The Grampians - what a mountain range. There is flat land all around me and in between there are these mountains. In the east there are many steep walls and in the west the mountains "flow" down very gently.
Yesterday I took a day off and rested my foot and elevated it. I'm "in the middle of nowhere" right now. Here is nothing. The place has a snack bar and a small restaurant and that's it... I get breakfast at the accommodation and it's delivered to my door early in the morning. In a basket there is a fruit, a yogurt, a bottle of juice and a muffin - breakfast is ready 🤷🏼♀️.
The mountains can be clearly seen from my accommodation, but are still almost 70km away. Even if my foot hurts, I have to go there. So I'm on my way. My landlady was kind enough to mark the most beautiful or interesting places on a copied map. I'll take it off and walk it off. With the hiking boots and if I do it carefully, then it should actually work.
The first stop is a canyon. very small, but still impressive and beautiful. The path leads along a small stream over smaller and larger stones. We continue to a few viewpoints. From there you have a great view over the wide plain. and finally there is the McKenzie Falls. A very beautiful and well-visited waterfall.
There is even a supermarket in the small town in the Grampians. I have to take advantage of that and buy some groceries. The market doesn't offer much, but I get an Indian flatbread and packet soup for the cup, which is poured over with boiling water🤦🏼♀️. Well, that will work for 2 days 😅...
