Albania via Tirana to Theth / 26.08.24

A long car ride lies ahead of us, leading us over rocky roads to Tirana, and from there along the SH1 to Theth. The gas stations along the way look more like junkyards, and to replenish our Edblue supply, we stop at several of these stations. I wonder about the many high-class SUVs that ride the nerves of smaller vehicles, taking all rights for themselves. On both sides of the road, I see heaps of trash, and in Tirana, cars are parked in the third row with their turn signals on, but without drivers. We struggle through the streets, and thankfully, we have our GPS with us. Without it, we wouldn’t find our way out of this city. Stray dogs and cats, as well as begging people, occupy the streets. After leaving the SH1 and heading towards Theth, the road becomes very narrow and is dotted with potholes. We must swerve to avoid oncoming cars and often stop to prevent collisions. After crossing the mountain pass, we reach our accommodation. Friederun looks after this and uses her Booking.com account to find affordable sleeping arrangements.
