The Springbrook National Park offers magnificent views and beautiful waterfalls 😍. During our 6 km hike, we were able to take in many beautiful impressions. Our simple campground for $12 per night was really basic 😂 Outhouse and no showers. 👌 After two nights, it was time to move on 🙈 But the experience there was truly unique. A location in the middle of the national park with only 6 sites that were not fully occupied. Totally quiet and lots of animals. Various species of parrots that we could already see during breakfast, starry nights with billions of lights in the sky that seemed so close to us, and the guitar playing of our neighbors by the campfire 🔥 just unique. One of the highlights of the national park is the Natural Bridge, the hiking trail there is very varied. The 'glowing waterfall', which pours through a hole in the ceiling of a lava cave, is incredibly beautiful. If you know the TV series "Terra Nova", this place is featured in it, the scenery is stunning. Both of us watched the series years ago independently of each other. It's about a world with dinosaurs, it's really good but unfortunately it was canceled after only one season 😱 to our disappointment 😢. If you visit the cave at night, there are supposed to be a lot of fireflies there. Unfortunately, we couldn't find out because Jana didn't dare to walk the trail at night 😂.
We continued to Lamington National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and protected. The campground we had booked in advance was about 1.5 hours away. Just before we reached it, we came to a closed road 🛑 The rangers on site explained to us that the area where we wanted to go was not passable due to Cyclone Debbie in March. So turn around, take a deep breath, and look for another place to sleep. That's how we ended up in the part of the national park called Binna Burra. The campground had showers and flush toilets 😂👌 We could start the hiking trails directly from there. Many of them were still closed due to the effects of the cyclone, but there were still enough to choose from. During our hikes, we saw the first kangaroos 😍 small forest kangaroos, one of them had a baby in its pouch, it was so beautiful!!! Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures because we were afraid they would hop away. Every evening, a possum would come to the campground, that was the campground possum 😄 Our neighbors were a group of German backpackers with whom we could exchange ideas for a long time and tried Goon for the first time 😂 This is the cheapest wine you can get here in Australia, it comes in a tetra pack, 5 liters for $14, that's how it tastes too 🙈.
