La Rochelle

Yesterday I arrived in La Rochelle. Actually, I wanted to spend another day further south in Brittany, but when I looked around the campsite recommended by Park4night in the midday heat, I was once again stared at by elderly couples sitting in front of their huge caravans. The silence and desolation there led me to the decision to drive another 350 km. How lucky, because this old port city is absolutely attractive - so much so that the campsite is fully booked even in early September and I only got a pitch without electricity. The incredibly large marina also seems to be fully booked (I have never seen so many sail masts at once) as well as the many restaurants at the old port.

Today, I had another triathlon day because I wanted to see as much as possible. However, the morning run was a big disappointment as the chosen Komoot route led through barren wasteland, ugly outskirts, and industrial areas. How annoying - considering that there are so many beautiful routes here, as the later long bike tour showed. Only in the evening after returning, a refreshing swim in the Atlantic was possible because the tides are just right, with high tide in the early morning and early evening. That's when you really appreciate the Baltic Sea beaches, which offer bathing fun all day long.

In the evening, the city came to life again and looked even more beautiful.
