Arcachon in March

The journey today along the dune was shocking. The entire forest area here has been completely burned down and is ashen gray. From the dune, which fortunately remains so stunningly beautiful as I discovered it last late summer, the view of the hinterland is almost unbearable, but the view of and the scent and the sound of the waves from the Atlantic are simply breathtakingly beautiful. Although it is 25 degrees colder here than in the Sahara, hiking through the partly soft, partly hard dune sand is very reminiscent of the desert trek in November. However, the downside of traveling in the spring is that you cannot drink the red wine on the beach or in front of the camper van in the evening, but you have to climb into the car early to warm up the wine in front of the parking heater for a pleasant drinking temperature.
