Today we are going to Venice. Since the bus does not run regularly, we will take a taxi to the train station and then comfortably ride a regional train to Venice S. Lucia. We get a day ticket for the water bus and ride line 1 all the way down the Grand Canal to the Lido of Venice. Lunch break in a nice, air-conditioned restaurant. It's hot again with over 30 degrees. Then back and we get off at St. Mark's Square. Like Sissi, we stroll once around the square and then wander into the labyrinth of countless alleys. By chance, we stumble into a church where an American orchestra is rehearsing. The singer has a wonderful voice and we enjoy the music for a while. Unfortunately, the concert is too late for us so we move on. After some searching, we find the Grand Canal again and start our way back home. Meanwhile, a thunderstorm is approaching, and it hits us directly. The bus driver is in his bus and doesn't let anyone in as he is on a break. Finally, the right bus arrives, and we all get on without a ticket at first. I try to buy online tickets but it's not working. Some services in Germany are down. I think, well, no ticket then... Two inspectors get on board! I manage to convince the older gentleman that it's not working and we don't have to pay a fine. We just have to buy two tickets in Grado. Lucky us!
