On Thursday, we took the ferry to Miyajima in bright sunshine.
The island is considered one of the 3 most beautiful landscapes in Japan.
The first highlight when entering the island is the deer. They are actually wild, but have no fear of humans and roam the whole island.
Another highlight is the gate, which is underwater at high tide and accessible at low tide.
Near the port, you can also find a five-story pagoda and a large shrine.
To climb Mount Misen, there are 3 paths. We chose the correct hiking trail, which took about 2 hours. The whole thing turned into a little adventure, as the paths were partly very impassable and the stairs were hardly passable.
However, at the top we were rewarded with a wonderful view.
Unfortunately, it gets dark very early in Japan right now, so we had to hurry with the descent.
We enjoyed our dinner at low tide near the gate before returning to Hiroshima.
