Stage 74: From Trabzon to Ardesen

Wɔatintim: 04.03.2022

After the two-day break in Trabzon, I was, of course, caught in the bad weather that I was trying to avoid. There wasn't much to enjoy about today's stage except that I made good progress. Quickly got the mandatory PCR test done for entry into Georgia and then I was on my way. It was raining when I left Trabzon and it was raining when I arrived in Ardesen. The city of Rize might have been worth a lunch break, but I was already wet and a bit cold. In the afternoon, I passed by a huge construction site that was bustling with activity. It was the Rize-Artvin Airport, which is set to open this year. It's intended to further develop the Black Sea region for tourism. Since there wasn't enough land available, it is being built on an artificially created island. By early evening, I was glad to have completed the 125 kilometers to Ardesen. Unfortunately, the shower was also cold, which didn't improve my mood. After over two months in Turkey, I was excited to finally visit a new country the next day.
