Tuesday 13.6. (115.75 km)
Off we go to Gargano.
We take the main road ss16 atlantiko and at some point we pass a fenced sheep herd.
The shepherd dogs see us and run barking along the fence.
Unfortunately, there is a hole somewhere and 2 of them squeeze through and try to bite us!!
I start cycling in panic, Patrick slows down and they do too...
What a shock!!
My legs are shaking as we continue riding...
So when we reach Torre Mileto in the evening, we ask the police in English if it would be okay if we sleep here for a night.
The police officer mutters something about parking (probably wanted to say something about campsites), then waves it off and says okay...
At night, a stray dog lies next to our tent and becomes friends with Patrick in the morning...
Wednesday 14.6. (47.74 km/474 hm)
We arrive at Peschici at the camping site Baia di Manaccora.
A little later, a girl comes and brings us pasta salad - we look so tired that we should eat something first😀
Delicious!
At the beach, an old man tells us a joke:
'Trump goes to Neuschwanstein Castle and wants to hike up a forest path.'
A man drives past him...
Trump: 'Stop - I am the President of the United States. America First!'
The man says: 'No stopping! I am a forester.'
Thursday 15.6. (35 km/450 hm)
After Vieste, we find a campsite by the sea.
Two Austrians from Innsbruck approach us and we have a coffee together.
In the evening, we meet Solene and Gaulthier from France. They are also cycling to Greece on a tandem bike.
As it starts pouring rain, we meet at the bar for one, two, three,... beers.
Later, Michi from Garmisch joins us...
After a few delicious chips, one of my teeth breaks - DAMMIT
Friday 16.6. (38 km/800 hm)
After Michi gives us his full gas cartridge as a gift, we set off towards Manfredonia...
In Mattinata, Patrick wants to go to the SOSTA CAMPER campsite.
(SOSTA means only) so the owner turns us away...
Then a lady comes and takes our side, unfortunately without success.
But we are offered a small room.
We are first given a drink by Tina and Franco (that's what the two nice guests from Ticino are called), and the campsite owner calls all dentists - unfortunately without success (it's already 4pm).
We decide to stay and in the evening, Tina and Franco (our adoptive 'grandparents') invite us for spaghetti ala Franco, cold white wine, homemade Limoncello, and coffee with Sambuca (very delicious).
A wonderfully warm evening!!!!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
