On Saturday, we finally went to the first National Park, Yosemite.
We drove through the valley and of course saw El Capitan and Half Dome. Afterwards, we took a little hike to the giant trees and even saw some deer.
Then we drove up the Tioga Pass to Olmsted Point, 3000m high. There are granite surfaces everywhere, which have been smoothed by the glacier over thousands of years, and huge boulders scattered on top.
As soon as we left the park, we were in the desert. Our accommodation was in a 500-soul village, somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
On Sunday, we were already on our way again at half past 6, as we wanted to drive to Salt Lake City. 950km. I was allowed to drive for the first time. Hours of driving straight with cruise control.
It felt like we passed 4 villages and 6 prisons.
In the evening at the hotel, we could relax in the pool after the long drive. We are now in a different time zone. We lost an hour.
