We arrived in Adelaide with the Ghan, where we were greeted by unusually cold temperatures (not even 20°C). After checking into our hotel room, we went on a guided tour of the city with the help of a relative who lives here.
As we crossed the Torrens River, we looked out at the Adelaide skyline, with the Festival and Convention Centre.
We couldn't miss the Adelaide Oval, the oldest stadium in Australia, where cricket and AFL (Aussie Rules Football) matches are played, which are very popular in Australia - although we had no idea about them...
The stadium is open on one side and anyone can watch the game from the hill without paying an entry fee.
We spent two days in the capital of South Australia, strolling through the pedestrian zone, seeing one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, and enjoying the sun on the beach in Glenelg. Along the well-designed promenade, we walked under a bright blue sky (and significantly warmer temperatures than when we arrived in Adelaide) and enjoyed the beautiful weather and the view of the sea.
