Today the journey took us from Flagstaff north towards Page. More precisely to Lake Powell Resort.
But first it was time for some shopping. In the old center of Flagstaff, on historic Route 66, various souvenirs were bought. Then we headed north on the highway. Later we switched to a smaller road. There was hardly any traffic there. The landscape is constantly changing. Flagstaff is surrounded by forest. Afterwards, the landscape turns into desert. Dry tufts of grass are the only signs of life. Then comes a kind of prairie, like the one we know from the Winnetou movies. Colored rocks form hills and mountains. The landscape constantly changes its colors. Shortly before Page, the road goes steeply downhill and there is a view towards Glen Canyon. To the north, you can see the deep blue Lake Powell. We continued over the Glen Canyon Dam to the campground. A very well maintained facility on the shores of the reservoir.
Each pitch has its own grill here and also a fire pit for cozy campfires. The spare ribs and the Budweiser were wonderful there.
