The last days in SYDNEY

Gepubliseer: 09.02.2018

We spent our last days in Australia in Sydney. Most backpackers start from here, we end our Australia trip there. We had a double room in a hostel in the city center, so we could reach many things on foot. The hostel was very clean, the other residents were rather strange.

We spent the first afternoon at Darling Harbour drinking cocktails. The next day, we went to the famous Habour Bright and the Opera House in sunshine. That was what we wanted to see, the 'landmarks' of the city at the end of the trip. We booked a 1-hour harbor cruise, which is definitely worth it. On day 3, we went to the famous Bondi Beach. We always watched the documentary about the lifeguards in Darwin, so it was funny to see them in real life. The beach was crowded (like at typical tourist hot spots), but we had expected that. So we spent a relaxed day at the beach and enjoyed the Australian sun one last time. In the evening, we wanted to go partying at the typical famous backpacker club, but it was rather disappointing. The DJ played bad music with terrible transitions and the audience was too sober (no money to drink). So we didn't want to leave Australia like that, so we went to Kings Cross on the last proper night, the party district of the city. We found a good club and had a great last Australian party night, which cost us over $150 despite cheap $6 rum/cola. We spent the last day resting and getting some things like new flip flops, gluten-free soy sauce for Thailand, and some snacks. In the meantime, we packed our backpack. We didn't cook once during the whole time, the communal kitchen is just not our thing. We ate gluten-free sushi from Sushi Hub, a Mexican fast food chain, and went to the pub.

Our flight to Bangkok is scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 AM. Now we are sitting at Sydney airport and waiting for the plane, which is expected to arrive around 12 o'clock.

We will miss Australia! The big cities are interesting but not our thing. But the beaches, the sun, the Outback, and especially Darwin will be missed.
