We had actually planned a kiteboarding stop in Puerto Altea, a tip from our Argentine kiteboarding friend from Rodeo.
However, finding the spot proved to be more difficult than expected. The road led us through 15 rough and unpaved kilometers, passing wild horses, donkeys, and herds of goats, before we arrived in the truly tiny village in the middle of nowhere. Additionally, the wind let us down. Therefore, we decided to drive the whole way to Puclaro, our next destination.
Puclaro is a reservoir surrounded by mountains and a wine-growing region. The rocky terrain, sparsely vegetated and covered with cacti, creates an extreme contrast to the valley where the green grapevines stand thanks to the flowing river. This is our kiteboarding destination for the next few days - the Puclaro Reservoir. Besides pleasant temperatures and sunshine, the wind blows here with extreme reliability and consistency every day from 12:15 p.m. Perfect for us. The daily routine is thus set. The mornings are "free" and we chill, go hiking or explore the area by car. Starting at 2 p.m. at the latest, it's time to hit the water.
