The day started with two hard-boiled eggs, toast, and porridge with strawberries 🍓 - that was available as a little goody in the supermarket. It doesn't taste like home, but better than fried noodles & chicken for breakfast.
Afterwards, we took the scooter 🛵 to the beach - this time in the western direction. Without a view of Thailand - but that will play an important role later. ☝️
The destination was Cenang Beach. According to various websites, it should be great and beautiful.
We found out: it was neither great nor beautiful, but simply more geared towards tourists. There were countless shopping opportunities, sports offers - jet skiing, paragliding, and much more... We made ourselves comfortable to people-watch 😬🧐 and found shade under a palm tree. There we were. The path to the water was 20m 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ in a sprint, it was hot and when we arrived there, it felt like being at home in the bathtub with a water temperature of 30° 😂🤒
In the late afternoon, we saddled up the scooter for the journey home. Besides the monkeys sitting right by the roadside, we rode through lush greenery along the sea.
Little did we know that the actual task of the day was still to come.
After dinner, there was more travel planning. With the clear goal in sight: Phnom Penh - Cambodia.
We started checking flights. That turned out to be quite unsatisfying. Either the flight time was impossible to make or the price was too high. Money plays a role after all 🤑. After we really wanted to book a flight, the system wouldn't let us proceed. Several providers were tried and every time the price increased. They probably would still have made a loss with us and the flight. It didn't help and we looked for alternatives.
Taiwan / Hong Kong / Hanoi / Borneo ... Nothing really suited us. Google had to come to the rescue and we found a train through Thailand ☝️ Originally, we wanted to avoid Thailand but it is the only overland route to our destination.
After some deliberations and research, we now booked the train instead of the flight, hopefully with more experiences and an upcoming adventure.
