Australia's heat got to us, combined with travel fatigue it made us lazy. That's why there are so many pictures here. Maybe you notice that most of it takes place on or in the water, actually the only sensible thing here.....
the wombats are also too warm, in most zoos they get air-conditioned buildings, as they usually live several meters deep in the cool groundKoalas sleep 16-20h per day, so it's difficult to take a photo of an awake Koala. It's definitely worth doing a wine tour in the Hunter Valley, they have very tasty wines and different grape varieties than in Europe. But maybe don't choose a day with 37 degrees Celsius 😅 The special thing about our tour (Wine D Road Tours) was that we also got to taste locally produced cheese and chocolate, a complete experience! Additionally, our guide grew up on a winery himself, we could learn a lot from him.some campsites are greeted by friendly localsand if you have the right arguments, even these nice parrots will visit youonly in the morning do you wish that these pretty lorikeets wouldn't make so much noisealways be careful! Unfortunately, there are very few koalas left in the wild.Australia has countless beaches, because of the variety, most beaches are completely empty even during peak season. But you should be careful with swimming, everything can be expected in the water from dangerous currents to poisonous jellyfish. Our dear friends forced us to try 'Vegemite'. We needed Nutella afterwards. We will get revenge. 😈Kayaking at Great Keppel Islandyou can spend Christmas in worse placesNevertheless, it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit at 35 degrees in the shade. Occasionally we could motivate ourselves to take a few steps, it was worth it!this lizard scared a little girl half to death, well camouflaged. Pay attention in Australia 😁 We used our day at the Billabong Sanctuary to get to know the native species better:the smallest kangaroo species in the worldis that comfortable?baby kangaroo, very soft! 😁baby getting ready to drink...did you just touch me?During the turtle feeding, hundreds of turtles suddenly appeared from the murky waterNo wonder that dingoes are often mistaken for dogs, they are so pretty. But in the wild, you shouldn't get too close to dingoes, as there regularly are bite injuries, because dingoes behave more like wolves.Wombats have a large cartilage bone plate in their butt, with which they defend themselves against dingoes and other predators. They run into their burrow and as soon as the dingo sticks its head in, the wombat lifts its butt and traps the dingo's head under the roof of the burrow. That's why careless dingoes with broken jaws are regularly found. That's a young python, normally it doesn't bite....cute at that ageyou wouldn't want to meet this one. This nice 5-metre creature was captured on the public beach in Townsville 😳😍this fluffy wool of the koalas keeps them cool in the heat, this young guy didn't want to get off Bekki's arm anymore.give away again? I don't know......
If anyone is considering taking a diving course: good idea! Diving is incredibly fun and you get to know the marine animals in a relaxed way and from a different perspective. While most fish are rather shy when snorkeling, we had some curious companions while diving. During the diving course, we were visited by 'Wally', a huge Maori Wrasse. Wally thinks he's a dog and is just as affectionate (unfortunately, there are no photos, as cameras are taboo for students, if you want to see him: https://www.facebook.com/afishcalledwally/) Another time, we were accompanied by a curious pufferfish, at least you don't have the urge to reach out your hand :)
Swimming through a huge school of fish is an indescribable feeling! But see for yourself

We spent New Year's Eve in Cairns after the diving course (very tired 😴).
The Whitsundays were a must, so we did a 2-day sailing trip. (And survived despite the storm on the first day 😅)

You have to wear these pretty 'stinger suits' everywhere in Queensland in the water during jellyfish season. A few days before our tour, people had to be brought back from the Whitsundays by helicopter because they were stung.
you only see such sunsets from the boat, that alone makes it worthwhile. Oh, and there's always a bit of wind.
Fraser Island. The largest sand island in the world, can only be explored with a 4x4. As it turned out, it's advisable to have an experienced driver. Tourists who overestimate themselves regularly get stuck and need to be rescued.

With these pictures we say goodbye to all of you. We are enjoying a few more days in Bangkok and will return to Germany just in time for the Super Bowl. 😜
