After Mathias, Lea also got to celebrate her birthday in Melbourne. At midnight, Mathias sang her 'today it can rain...' and she finally got to unpack the huge package from home that had been sitting there for two days. Overwhelmed by the love of our friends that was poured into this package, we finally went to sleep - we haven't stayed up this late in a long time. The next day, Lea woke up full of energy and ready for her birthday. A little later, the others were ready too :) We had a delicious brunch in our garden, even though it's Lea's first birthday in autumn, it was almost 30 degrees. Rad and Elsa, our other roommates who are currently at a festival, represented us. Everyone enjoyed Lea's long-awaited Aperol (yes, we're saving) and other treats. We continued like this until early afternoon, when the next item on the agenda was already waiting.
We had arranged to meet Emma and Brian at an escape room. Our task was to escape from prison within 60 minutes - with handcuffs. We made it (apparently only 30% of all groups do) and were very satisfied with the puzzles. It was fun.
After a walk through the city and along the river, the four of us went to the restaurant 'Lesa' where we were served nine very delicious courses. Mathias is always happy when there is an opportunity to try one of the fancier restaurants in Melbourne. If vegan cuisine is also guaranteed, Lea is happy to come along. For Brian and Emma, this was their first experience with such a multi-course menu and they bravely (or not so bravely) took part ;) (Thanks to both of you for spending Lea's birthday with us, for helping us escape the gaol, and for letting us take part in your first fine dining experience)
All in all, it was a great day filled with lovely messages from all over the world... Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. The next year of life can come and will surely bring a lot of exciting things - bring it on.
