Originally, I just wanted to enjoy a nice downhill ride on my bike from the Brenner Pass to Bolzano. This idea came to me during our numerous trips to the south while crossing the Brenner Pass. However, upon closer consideration, this would only be a short pleasure, and the distance from Munich to Venice is quite feasible for an experienced cyclist. The thought deepened and soon the planning began. The suitable route was quickly found, the officially designated cycle path from Munich to Venice since 2015 promises the highest riding pleasure on bike paths and country roads. In the Dolomites, this should be topped by a disused railway line.
Since the persistent cyclist also enjoys climbing mountains, it made sense to incorporate this passion as well. A suitable mountain was quickly found, it had to be the Marmolada, whose glacier I had often admired longingly from a distance. The horizontal detour to this mountain tour was justifiable, only the indicated altitude meters in the Dolomites made me ponder a bit. Maybe I should save some weight in my luggage.... With that, the adventure was perfect and the anticipation was great.
