Rabies?

已發表: 16.08.2024

So.. after reading on Google that a rabies infection is always fatal, I felt quite uneasy.

After consulting with my family doctor in Germany, transmission in my case seemed rather unlikely, but not impossible, and the wounds need to be treated with antibiotics.

By the looks of it, the cat that attacked Sam and me either had a serious psychological problem or was rabid.

Unfortunately, the cases of rabies in Turkey are increasing due to the incredibly many stray dogs and cats, so I can somewhat understand the killing of some animals now.

Well, in Antalya, off to the doctor. He referred us to the hospital, which sent us to the university, and they sent us to another hospital. Phew.

The biggest problem was the dogs in the car at 60 degrees within minutes... impossible!! Can't take them along!! And without language skills, no chance 🥴🥴

We then decided to first drive to our destination Kas. From there, we would immediately go to a local doctor... but he was already closed. Okay... on to the private doctor... but he didn't have the vaccination... so to the local hospital.

Turgut first registered me there and took care of everything, so I could stay with the dogs in the car and keep the car running.

It was a cultural shock when I entered the hospital. Injured and sick people were sitting here. Everyone was treated in a room separated by curtains. Everything was recorded in books... no sign of computers. I received a handwritten prescription and my vaccination, along with a Turkish vaccination card. Now, I still need 3 follow-up vaccinations 😖😖 one of which I will get here on Sunday, then we need to find another hospital for the third one at our next stop 🤨🤨 and then I will get the last one in Germany... It is still questionable whether the vaccine from here matches the one in Germany 🧐🧐 we shall see.

Then we went to eat something in the city, completely exhausted, and went to bed.

Sucki unfortunately had diarrhea and the heat was unbearably intense for the first time, making it impossible to sleep.

However, this unbelievably beautiful nature makes everything okay again.
