Greetings friends of the sun.☀️

After our great experiences in Chiang Mai, we continued on to Pai, north of Chiang Mai, in a van. We drove for about 4 hours towards the mountains. The roads were so winding and meandering that I was so sick after a short time that I could only look out the window between the seats without really being able to enjoy the landscape. Now I finally understand my sister better, who had these problems as a child. Well, for me it only started after the trip and as far as I'm concerned it can stop just as quickly. We also saw what was probably the most heavily loaded pickup truck of our lives. We've seen some really exciting loads of cars and scooters on our trip, but this really topped everything. Pai reminded us a lot of Ko Chang, our favorite island. Everything was small, cute, homemade and cozy. The accommodation we stayed in was recommended to us by someone we met in a bar in Vietnam. I don't remember his name but he was extremely talkative and very loud haha. The recommendation was pretty good though, as the bungalows there were very cheap and the people were just great. We met four people from Stuttgart there, with whom we not only went on a trip to the canyon but also had a total blast on the pub crawl. Greetings go out to Antonia and Sebastian, who bravely put up with my sudden addiction to gin and tonic and my corresponding state. After that I had to sober up for a day and fight my social hangover on the second day. We met the sweet Lauren from England, with whom we always had a lot of fun and experienced the most amazing things like the detour to a lake, which was a bit muddy but still a welcome way to cool down, or the drive to a lookout point from which you could look out over the canyon. We watched a sunset together, which ended in a heavy thunderstorm, but we survived it together, snuggled up in half-damp towels. We also visited a waterfall that was so cold that you would have almost frozen if it hadn't been 40 degrees outside. We walked through Walking Street a few times, where there is a wonderful night market that of course has everything your heart desires. I found a stand there with grilled corn, but it disappeared as if by magic because I never saw it again. We also discovered our love for matcha milk tea, which became a regular part of our breakfast. Matheo from Italy brightened our mood every morning with his manner and his appearance in a holey T-shirt and underpants. He was always up for a laugh and his look always reminded me a bit of Dad. It was probably because of the holes in each of his T-shirts. Julian found an iguana with a blue head and a brown-gray body at some point. He was really incredibly pretty. Julian also made friends with a dog called Jacky, who didn't really let us pet her because of bad experiences and kept snapping at you if you tried despite warnings. Julian, however, spent so much time with her and shared his food with her that she even let him scratch her belly. Saying goodbye to her after a week was very hard for Julian... We also discovered our talent as driving instructors, because in the week we were in Pai we successfully taught two people how to ride a scooter. In English and with hands and feet, but it worked. While we're on the subject of scooters... Julian and I decided after our time in Pai to drive back to Chiang Mai on two scooters to take the bus back to Bangkok. Tobias is coming to visit us and will land in Bangkok, where we want to pick him up. But I'll tell you more about that next time.

Until recently.🐑
