On our way to Arequipa, we passed through Huacachina and Nazca.
Huacachina is a small oasis near Ica. Unfortunately, it has been discovered by tourism: buggies racing up the dunes at high speed and people skiing or snowboarding down the dunes. As a result, there is often trash in the dunes. We hiked up the dunes in the morning before the hustle and bustle - simply wonderful and very exhausting. The fine sand does not allow for a typical hike in Bavaria - but we are fit :-))
In Nazca, we only went up the tower and that was quite enough for us, but the lines are quite impressive.
We arrived in Arequipa this morning by overnight bus (very comfortable, if not for the serpentine roads). Just a preview: it is the most beautiful and atmospheric city so far. We will be here for almost 1 week - a good decision. But more on that in our next entry.
