This morning we reach Älesund in slightly cloudy weather. Our ship stays in the harbor until 8 p.m. This gives us plenty of time to explore the city. Älesund is a harbor town on the west coast of Norway and is located at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. It is famous because most of the city was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style after a major fire in 1904, which is on display in the Jugendstilsenteret museum. A lookout point on Mount Aksla offers panoramic views of Älesund and the surrounding islands and fjords. (Today closed due to ice)

The Waldhuset is the only house that survived the fire in 1904, and is now a historic wooden house that has been designated as a museum. It is located in the eastern part of Älesund's city center on the island of Nørvøy in a corner location where Fjellgata meets Grensegata at the address Fjellgata 2. Our ship continues to Molde, Kristiansund in the direction of Trondheim.
