On the very last (full) day of the trip we planned some action again. Dubai is predestined for this. We really wanted to do a desert tour because we are surrounded by it.
In the morning Adil picked us up on time in an off-road vehicle. We were a bit surprised that we were a small group of only 6 tourists. Participants were an older couple from England (who had stayed at the Atlantis Hotel), a German couple and us. After about 45 minutes we arrived at the desert camp or base camp. On the way there, Adil told us about an underground prison and very harsh punishments. However, hardly anyone is imprisoned there because there are virtually no crimes 😅.
From the camp you can do all sorts of desert adventures 😅. The first activity on our part was quad biking. I was really looking forward to racing over the dunes. We took a quad and rode as a couple. Since there were a lot of people “on the route” at the same time, we always had to be careful. Especially if someone just parks behind a hill...🤦🏼♂️. After almost 30 minutes I put Elisa down and gave her 5 minutes of material 😁👍🏻. Afterwards we were pretty sweaty and had to acclimatise. However, there wasn't much time. The next stop was camel riding.
We saddled up on the animal and I was essentially looking around at the history of the world when our camel suddenly stood up. I almost fell over backwards, but I was able to hold on to the handle. Phew. Lucky you 😅. Then we did a lap and then rode back.
Our driver picked us up and drove off. But he didn't say anything else and just turned up the music a little. At first we were a bit surprised, but pretty soon it became clear: Dune bashing had started!
We then whipped through the desert like crazy and took what felt like every dune with us. We think we even rode on two wheels once. Adil is completely crazy 😅. But he has a special license for it. We even saw a wrecked car lying upside down.
To be honest, we were a bit nauseous afterwards. But we went straight on to sandboarding. I tried it twice and it took quite a while on both attempts 😅. But it's still a lot of fun.
That was the end of the adventure and Adil dumped us in front of our hotels. He told us interesting things about a new tower, camel meat and wanted to know how much beer costs in Germany. He couldn't believe how cheap alcohol is here 😅. We had a good chat with the English. They are coming to the European Championships in Berlin next year. Maybe we'll see each other 😁😅. It was a beautiful day.
Kind regards ☀️
