The nature here is so beautiful that photos can't really do it justice. Galway Bay has a great beach and brave people even went swimming. In the summer, the water temperature is 16 degrees Celsius, which is quite sporty. According to our guide, Irish people swim in neoprene suits, while those in bathing suits are tourists. The Connemara Peninsula offers everything from lakes, peat bogs, rivers, mountains, beaches, and plenty of cows and sheep standing or on the road. If you hit a sheep, you have to pay a fine of 700 Euros, so the little sheep are probably safe. The only fjord in Ireland and plenty of mussel banks and salmon farms can be found here. Game of Thrones and The Vikings were also filmed in this area.
And at some point, a real fairytale castle appears, located by the lake. Kylemore Abbey. There is a great and sad story about the creation of the castle, and many rooms are furnished just like they were back then and can be visited. Today, 20 nuns live in part of the castle. Beautiful vegetable and decorative gardens are laid out around it. And since the weather played along at that time, it was doubly beautiful.
The Irish call their weather 'Vivaldi weather', 4 seasons in one day. I experienced that today.
