Just five and a half kilometers from Vaison la Romaine, the medieval village of Crestet is located on a ridge, from which it takes its name. As this village was also built on a sunny hillside, the cobbled streets are steep, complemented by equally steep stairs. The village is dominated by the tower of the Saint-Saveur church and the castle, which, like most castles in the Vaucluse, is privately owned. It was restored by the well-known French architect Roger Anger. The picturesque square with the octagonal basin fountain from the 16th century is also a feast for the eyes.
After visiting the village, we set off on a four-and-a-half-hour circular hike starting in Crestet. This can only be described with one word: enjoyable hiking!
