Day 17 - 19: Varanasi

On the arrival day I was pretty exhausted, so I spent most of the day in the hotel. The next day, we went to the Ganges at 05:30. There, I had a boat ride where I not only watched the sunrise, but also witnessed the morning bathing and prayers in the Ganges by some devotees. After that, we returned to the hotel. At 16:00, we went back to the Ganges for the second boat ride. This time, the focus was on the cremation of the bodies. There wasn't much to see, just the last bath of the deceased before the cremation. After the boat ride, there was a ceremony at the Ghat (riverbank steps). Tomorrow (Day 19), I will take a train to my driver Khan's hometown. I have a 20-hour train journey ahead of me, but this time in first class :) I will stay at Khan's home for 10 days before going to Thailand.
