Good morning friends,
on the 27th we went to San Miguel de Allende, about 1 hour away from Queretaro.
I was told it is one of the most Mexican cities in Mexico, even though many Gringos and Canadians spend their retirement here. 😁
There are also many colorful houses here, it seems to be a requirement from the government to maintain the city's appearance (yes, there seem to be people who care about the appearance of a city).
The city is located in the most conservative state in Mexico, the only one that the conservative party was able to win in the last election. The rest of the country preferred the left-wing party.
Fun Fact: In this state, you have to pay a fine for intense kissing.
The people are super friendly, but they are much slower in everything. I didn't interact much with the conservatives here. The food here is incredibly good as well. No wonder UNESCO has designated it as a World Heritage Site.
In the evening, we drank Pulque, a Mexican national drink made from different types of agave and then fermented. It's typical for this region. I found the smell quite disgusting, and I didn't really like the taste either 😂
