May 23-31, 2019
In principle, not much happened during this long period. I tried to catch up on the blog, but the WiFi was working against me.
On May 27, 2019, I packed my things and moved on. I can now stay with an Australian family for three weeks. I receive accommodation and meals on an organic farm in exchange for 20 hours of work per week. However, this term is not really defined. A few chickens and two olive trees awaited me.
In addition, there were two children who don't get along and constantly argue. Children are just not my thing. The advantage, however, is that they are only here for about half of the week and the rest of the time they are with their father. The downside is that now I am supposed to work for accommodation for the second week. I didn't really want to spend any money here. Sometimes things don't go as planned.
Now I have my own caravan here. Not exactly ideal when the outside temperature is 10 degrees at night.
The next day, I picked up the children from school. I could only do so with my ID and if I am on the approved list. Not everyone can pick up children here in Australia. The arguments started again immediately. I was annoyed again shortly after. Then I was supposed to make dinner for the children in the evening. The mother's new partner brought noodles that I was supposed to prepare. 300g of noodles. Uh, yeah, that might be enough for me. In the end, the children hardly ate anything. So I was full too.
Then on the 29th, I was supposed to make wraps for the youngest son. He came home and didn't want any. Okay, I won't force you. Anyway, it's hard to win against such stubborn kids. More for me. In the evening, I felt my throat and nose. Probably the kids' germs.
On the 30th, we were able to clean the house together in peace. The children went to their father's yesterday. I took a nap at noon. I got a headache, but still wanted to go to frisbee in the evening. I quickly realized it wasn't a good idea and went to bed early instead.
The day before, the mother asked me if there were any groceries I still wanted. I wrote down a few things. She even bought coffee for me. The groceries were delivered in the evening. A small box for almost 200 dollars (about 125 euros), see photo. Organic food is very expensive!!! And my special ordered coffee cost over 10 euros for 100g! Is it really worth it?
On the 31st, I felt much better, so I met up with a friend from frisbee to go cycling. We rode along the beaches in Fremantle and chatted a lot.
