The alarm clock rang at 4:25 in the morning. After a short night and armed with 2 packed lunches prepared for us at the hotel, we set off on our bikes to the bus station.
We arrived at the bus station, a large, clean multi-story facility that is also serviced by Flixbus. The bus is on time, but the bikes are stored in the baggage compartment.
We eat during the time until the train ride, find a friendly pizzeria about 1 km away, but try to avoid the Federal Chancellery to prevent contagious forgetfulness.
After a 10-hour bus ride and the break in Berlin, we take elevator rides at the train station (who is actually responsible for the parameterization of the elevator control so that its doors can open and close more quickly?) and a 4-hour ride on the ICE train to Duisburg (completely problem-free, almost punctual, relaxing), where our daughter picked us up by car.
We have completed 8,930 meters of altitude and 1,440 km by bike. 5 days of sightseeing and intellectual nourishment in Krakow are behind us, as well as some days with bad weather, a few with warmer temperatures, and the omnipresent wind, which often pushed us forward. There were no defects or flat tires, only the chain had to be lubricated and the brake pads of the rim brake had to be cleaned because aluminum abrasion had collected in them and reduced the braking performance along with unpleasant grinding noises.
During the journey, we always had the awareness that we were accompanied and protected by the Lord!
Dear reader, at this point, we would like to say goodbye and thank you for accompanying us over the past 3 weeks, for rooting for us and for your prayers! We hope that we were able to let you participate a little in our little adventure.
