15.04.17 - Montezuma

已發表: 03.07.2019

At 5:30 in the morning, still pretty worn out from partying yesterday, we headed to the bus stop. Jaco's streets were now deserted and a whole fleet of street cleaners took care of the trash from the night.

From Jaco, we first went to Puntarenas. From there, the ferries go to the other side of Costa Rica. Finding the right dock was a torture again.

Nevertheless, I managed to find everything just in time and finally got on the ferry, in insanely high temperatures. The ferry ride took about 1 hour and only cost unbelievable 80 cents :O and it was one of the most beautiful crossings I've ever done. You could see so much, it was amazing.

The dock in Montezuma looked a bit strange, there was only a small house and nothing around it except trees and bushes, no houses, no roads, just jungle. But I knew that the 'town' was at least 10 km away. Thankfully, a bus was already waiting to pick us all up. The bus was packed to the roof, so full that I sat in the open door and probably had the best seat on the bus, as the wind made it bearable. Sitting in a bus with open doors and cruising around so casually would never happen in Germany, simply great :) The area here is a dream. Everything is green, flowers everywhere, and so rural.

Finally arrived in Montezuma, it was time to walk again and find the hostel. It was unbearably hot there, so I had to take 2-3 breaks in the ditch. The 'streets' were so dry that every time a quad drove by, I got a huge load of dust.

Finally arrived at Hostel Proyecto. The outdoor area was beautiful, lots of hammocks, right by the sea, perfect. The rooms, on the other hand, took some getting used to.
