Today in the morning, after cleaning the stable with the first horse, the ambulance arrived at the stud farm...? Later we found out that a rider fell off the horse! She broke a part of the cervical spine and has a hairline fracture in her meniscus. We don't know exactly how she is doing at the moment! We hope she gets better soon. She is really a very good rider. Just yesterday, Nick and I had a lesson with her. After the riding lesson, Nick told me that he had never had such good instruction before. However, it makes us more aware. No matter how well we ride, we are not protected from accidents.
Just today we had a mare that had a saddle on her back for the third time. The first two times went well, I stepped into the stirrup from both sides and leaned over her. Today someone mowed the lawn and she was a bit distracted and somehow nervous. Actually, the plan was to mount her for the first time. But my gut feeling said, today is not the day for that. And we listen to that! It was fine with another mare that is also not yet experienced under saddle - for the horse, for Nick who led the horse on the ground, and for me on top! However, we never have a guarantee. That's why we try to prepare the horses as best as we can for everything we can prepare for. Then Nick took his mare Sarina with him as a hand horse - all 3 of them did great.
Today was certainly not the most productive day, but with 6-day weeks, the recovery time is already shortened. That's why Nick made a "Feierabend-Nick-erchen" on the trailer ramp.
In the evening, we went shopping in Segovia. It takes about half an hour by car to get there. After we had all the necessary fittings for the new boiler, Nick got to work. I really didn't have the energy for it, but I'm glad he's doing it - thank you! Now it works and in the future, I can take a shower a bit longer. So far, about 15 liters of warm water for everything, including 1 shampoo and 1 conditioner, was pretty tight. I'm excited!
