Today I will not continue, but extend for a night and take advantage of the great weather for a little hike. The Mt McIntosh Track leads me as a day hike first uphill past old gold miner tunnels, then I descend into a valley. Here I have to cross the river, barefoot I try to maintain balance in the cold water. It's not easy at all to reach the intended stone in the current. Then it's just uphill to the ridge. The path winds zigzag along the slope, along the way there is also a hut where you could spend the night. It must also be great to start the day here in the morning. Finally at the summit, I'm rewarded with a colossal view. The Mt Earnslow Glacier and the Mt Alfred as a lonely mountain in the plain shape the picture, I take a break and enjoy the panorama. I continue on the ridge line, later the path descends parallel to a fence back into the valley. After 7 hours, 17 km and 1300 meters in altitude I am back at the parking lot, I drive to the lake and sit on a jetty with a beer, cooling my feet in the water...a beautiful end to a beautiful day....
