We continued to the Bay of Islands, to Paihia. From there, we took the ferry to Russell (formerly known as the Hellhole of the Pacific) and spent a few hours there. Due to the amazing water and weather, we felt like we were in the South Pacific.
The next day we woke up early and drove to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. It was there that the founding document of New Zealand was signed in 1840. We participated in two tours and visited two museums. Henry was particularly interested in the Maori dances and the ducks that live there. Afterwards, we continued further north to the beautiful beaches of the Karikari Peninsula.
