22.02. 2023 from The Gap to Mambray Creek CP in Mount Remarkable NP,

Today the sun rises just before 7 am and it is already warm, the sharp wind that we enjoyed all day yesterday has calmed down today, we walk to the beach and take a short swim. The water in the sea is pleasant.

We pack up and drive to Moonta and Kadina. At the visitor center, we get information about the Eyre Peninsula, book the campground at Mt. Remarkable NP, and at Woolworth's, we not only get all the groceries we need for the next few days, but we also have free WIFI, although it's not enough for the blog. In this area, copper was mined in earlier times, among other things, and made the cities rich. This section of the peninsula is still called Coppercoast today. We make use of the generous and well-kept picnic facilities in Pt. Broughton and have lunch, admire the bustling activity in Pt. Pirie and the largest wooden loading bridge in Australia in Pt. Germein. Even today, the peninsula is an important economic factor with agriculture and grain cultivation. We want to go for another swim, but the water is particularly far away today. In the NP, we quickly find our campsite and look for a shady spot, it is 38 degrees and there is no wind. Besides us, there are 43 other campers here. The flies are annoying and we admit to being a bit lethargic to go for a hike today. We'll do it tomorrow. The special thing at the campground today is that there are showers. We don't need hot showers.
