12.03.2023 from Tableland Highway to Tennant Creek
We are awake too early, alone in the vastness, the drone, the water, we finally want to know if and how it continues. The water level has dropped significantly overnight, Frank checks the situation and then we drive through and we are proud of ourselves.
But 20 km further it is finally over, the whole landscape is flooded, a road is not recognizable. We have to turn back. 170 km to Cape Crawford, 270 to Daly Waters and then we'll see. The passage through Cattle Creek is now no longer too difficult. In Cape Crawford we have a hearty breakfast, this morning we just weren't hungry, and then we continue. In Daly Waters we refuel and drink a coffee, in Renner Springs we exchange the CD of Neil Young for the Four Seasons and after 900 km we are back in Tennant Creek.
But before that, there is another very sad news, 25 km before Tennant Creek the Barkley Highway turns east, it is definitely closed at the border between NT and Queensland. No go. We have to go further south. Option 2 is not possible, unfortunately.
However, we are warmly welcomed at the campground, a great joy, we jump into the pool, prepare a delicious meal and dedicate ourselves to the world wide web.
