Today we start the day full of anticipation and also a little excitement. In our breakfast place, we fortify ourselves for our whale-watching adventure.
Arriving at the harbor, we wait to board our whale-watching cruiser. Since we are still early, we take a look at what's in the harbor.
and take a look at the aquarium....
Then it's time to board and after a few minutes, we're already on our way. We leave the harbor and the city slowly gets smaller.
After 25 miles, we arrive at our destination (Stellwagen Bank, an underwater plateau at the entrance of Massachusetts Bay between Cape Cod and Cape Ann - a nature reserve). Immediately we spot the first water spouts of whales.
..and not only that, soon our boat is surrounded by families with their calves, who were born in warmer waters in January/February and are now here in the Atlantic to fish for food for their offspring, which will soon be independent.
We encounter three to four families, mother, young and aunt, around the ship - an amazing spectacle. One of them wants to know exactly....
Some on board watch the spectacle calmly - others are thrilled! How lucky we were to see so many humpback whales and a fin whale today.
Then we return to the harbor of Boston, where the skyline presents itself beautifully and we return with plenty of pictures of the impressive giants.
