Before heading to Harrison Hot Springs in the morning, we stopped by Aberdeen Mall in Kamloops. However, most shops were still closed. At Wal Mart, we bought a cream for the insect bites, which looked really bad on me. Then we drove towards the relaxing part of our trip. We treated ourselves to two days at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa (okay, at least we thought of the word 'treat') so that we could recover from all the driving and walking.
This time, the journey was not very long, we reached our destination after 2.5 hours. We were even able to check in earlier than expected. But here was the first impertinence: we had to pay an additional 19 dollars per day for parking! Due to the lack of alternatives, we had no choice. Then the next problem in the room: no air conditioning! And that at around 30 degrees! In every cheap hotel, there had been air conditioning so far, and especially in this resort, which actually has its price, there was only a fan and the air in the room was also very stale. The whole room seemed overall worn out and old-fashioned. We were really disappointed for the price!
We first headed to the lake promenade. We just had to leave the hotel, because it was located directly on Harrison Lake. It was wonderful to stroll there and in combination with the weather and the beautiful view of the lake, we almost felt like in the Mediterranean. We got a hot dog and hung out at one of the beaches on the lake, and also dipped our feet in the water. As expected, it was icy cold. And yet, some people were swimming again!
We went back to the hotel and made use of what we actually came for: the hot pools! We didn't want to spend much time in the room, so we found a sun lounger downstairs and grilled ourselves in the sun. Like on an all-inclusive vacation - just unfortunately without all-inclusive ;) In between, we kept bathing in one of the pools, but unfortunately, they didn't offer much cooling off, as they are all fed by hot springs. We didn't expect it to get so hot during our stay here. Nevertheless, the pool area is really nice.
In the evening, we allowed ourselves to eat out again. With full bellies and $80 less, we returned to the hotel. It was already dark, and we wanted to use the hot pools again. However, from 10 pm onwards, only the adult pool was open, which was accordingly crowded. It's time for bed, so we went to the stuffy room and tried to sleep in the heat without air conditioning. We somehow imagined the resort differently...
Plan for tomorrow: lounging around!
