Island hopping & Dengue

已發表: 28.11.2017

After about five weeks on Koh Mook, we took the bus to the nearby larger island of Koh Lanta to visit Mogli, the puppy. Unfortunately / Fortunately, Mogli had already been adopted, so we couldn't see her anymore. The Animal Welfare Koh Lanta shelter is definitely worth a visit, and we were very glad to have sent Mogli here. On Lanta, we danced for two nights to the beats of DJ Dam, met Sloan, a macrame artist from South Korea, and explored the island by motorbike. And we caught Dengue fever, as we had to realize a few days later. At that time, many tourists on the island had contracted the fever, and we couldn't avoid it either.

From Koh Lanta, it's not far to Koh Jum, and after almost two months, we returned to the Blue House.
After two days, we felt a bit sick and had high fever at night. Luckily, Bao, a friend, took care of us... brought us to the doctor and later to the hospital in Krabi. It took almost a week of infusions and other medications until we felt somewhat healthy again. We heard the phrases 'How many Pu, how many Pi' and 'it's a tropical area' about 100 times during that week :-D. For the first time, we didn't enjoy Thai food anymore and longed for German mashed potatoes and grandma's strawberry cake. We were very happy when the fever was over, our appetite returned, and we were finally discharged.
Because of the 'busy' main road, we decided to move again for the remaining time on Jum and stayed in a bamboo bungalow by the sea in Mai (a very great and impressive woman).

Since my visa for Thailand expired at the end of May, I decided to fly to Singapore and left Thailand after six months full of exciting experiences and wonderful people.
