Ab into the Highlands ⛰️🏰

已發表: 07.08.2023

Today we left the region around Edinburgh and continued our journey into the Highlands.

Of course, we didn't take the direct route but planned 2 detours along the way.

First, we went to Stonehaven, which is 91 miles away. A small coastal town on the North Sea. From there, we hiked to the picturesque ruins of Dunnottar Castle, looming high on the cliff coast.

Very worth seeing and beautifully located, all in the best Scottish weather. Rain, sun, a little rain, a little sun, and from the front.

On the way back, we briefly refreshed ourselves in the harbor of Stonehaven and continued our journey north.

In the afternoon, we had a rendezvous at the holiday residence of the Royals - Balmoral Castle.

Not bad at all.

But the secret highlight was the almost 100 miles through the wilderness of the Crampian Mountains to the destination Dingwall. Great, wide landscapes. Narrow and winding roads and hardly anyone else on the way except us. Absolutely fantastic. Only the rainbow was missing, despite perfect conditions.

We arrived in Dingwall at around 9:15 p.m. We had to settle for Mr. Fish for our culinary needs.

We got full.

Everything was prepared in our bed and breakfast and hostess Moira welcomed us in a bathrobe.

It's about 25 miles from here to Loch Ness, and of course, we'll visit it.

Otherwise, we'll decide live and in color.

Greetings from the Highlands.

Stay tuned!
