In Oamaru, we found a Paua shell on the beach and saw sea lions. After a sunny day, we continued on to Dunedin. On the way there, we found the biggest round ice we've ever seen in Hampden.
When we arrived in Dunedin, we went to Elaine and Duncon's place in Port Chalmers, a small area of Dunedin.
We spent a few days with them and it was wonderful! On the first evening, we had traditional fish and chips, and Duncon showed us around Dunedin and its surroundings over the next few days. We visited several lookouts, such as Mt. Cargill, the famous Railway Station, the Botanic Garden, Aramoana Spit with a view of sea lions and albatrosses, and on the last evening, we had a rugby night.
Some friends of theirs came over, the All Blacks played against England but unfortunately lost. We had plenty of food (roasted pork with vegetables, macaroni casserole, we made German schnitzel and meatballs, apple crumble, and snacks) and it was a very fun evening and a great time here. We would love it if they could visit us in Germany sometime.
