Flowers grow everywhere here that we only know as potted plants, if at all. Yesterday evening I saw a ficcus benjaminus, which we all had as a potted plant in the 80s, as a 200-year-old tree about 30 m high.... Here, in addition to many eucalyptus trees, bamboo groves - huge and thick, there are palm trees , acacias, jacarandas also reside in swamps, mangroves, grasslands and rainforests.
Last night I went to a concert in Bellingen with Sally (an acquaintance of my host) and stayed overnight with her. The concert on a small stage in a cafe was really nice. The duo 'Saije' will soon be going on a European tour, including Germany. Reminded me a lot of "London grammar"...
Now I'm sitting in the same cafe again and bridge 4 hours with a delicious breakfast in an air-conditioned zone until the first bus leaves for Macksville at 1 p.m. and then change to the 3 p.m. bus to Scotts Head.
Opposite is an organic food store, quite well stocked, expensive but well attended, mostly by young mothers with small children. Organic food is very popular, also gluten-free and all the Australian women I have met so far are very nutritionally conscious. Vegetables, salad, and fruit in quantities, rarely meat and fish... The food is really good and tasty.
