I hate this whole situation.
No one can say anything for sure, only make assumptions. No one knows anything. Of course, it's understandable, but I just want to know how it will continue. Will we go later in the year? Only in 2021? Not at all? Or will everything just stay as planned? That is the question that I really want answered.
A caregiver from AFS said that some things will only be decided in mid to late May and she will be able to give us information by then. But no one can predict how all of this will develop. No one can predict if Trump will even open the borders this year.
And this uncertainty is annoying all of us, I think.
I just hope that we can still fly this year. I want to go to my host family, cuddle with their dogs, have an amazing time with them, get to know my Spanish host sister, go to high school and experience prom, graduation, etc., and simply live my dream in America.
As mentioned before, this year is the only chance to go. If I can't go, the only other option would be to participate in summer programs abroad, but that can't be compared to 10 months of everyday life in the host country.
Despite everything, I still have hope that we can fly as planned or at least a bit later. If you look at the situation in Germany, where so many things suddenly reopened, you might think that it will be back to normal soon. But if you look over to the USA, it's a completely different story. How Trump will act is the big question.
The only thing I can do now is wait and hope.
I will keep you updated, thank you for reading.
