Und noch mehr Pässe!

已發表: 13.07.2019

We want to continue to France to drive some sections of the Route des Grandes Alpes. That's why we'll book the next hotel in Bourg Saint Maurice.

After a delicious breakfast at AlpSu, we pack up and drive back to Brigg via the Oberalp Pass and the Furka Pass.

At the Oberalp Pass, we see the steam train that accompanies and crosses the pass route. A little bit of Harry Potter in the Alps!

In Andermatt, we take a short coffee break and in Münster, we have fresh trout with salad for lunch.

Then we continue on the route, although the navigation system provides contradictory information about the distance, duration, and toll fees...

Ultimately, from Münster, we still have a long stretch of 240 km to overcome over various passes. From now on, it's only fuel and drink breaks!

We go behind Brigg to Visp and through a long green valley where sand and gravel are extensively mined, which affects the landscape in some places. But in between, there are also large orchards with apricots and apple trees, and vineyards on the slopes. Then we go up the passes to La Forclaz and finally reach Chamonix. There is a lot of traffic here, so we quickly move on to the next pass, which are lined up like a string of pearls here. Sometimes through the forest, then over pastures, back into the valley, up again... you can't make fast progress with the many curves and turns, but it's a real treat in terms of landscape and driving!

But slowly fatigue sets in, and it doesn't seem to end. The roads get smaller and more winding!

At some point, just before it gets dark, we made it, reached the hotel. But it's not in the city center, it's a bit outside, and there's no more food to eat...

The girl at the reception desk is very helpful though, so we quickly order pizza and drink red wine with it. We're definitely too tired to drive again! Oh, and now it's raining... lucky us!
