Fort or Ksar

已發表: 16.05.2019

To escape the heat, we drove southwest from Guelmim to Ksar Tafnidilt. A beautiful Ksar (Fort) that was rebuilt next to the old, decaying one. It functions as a hotel with a campsite, where we were the only camping guests alongside 4 hotel guests. We stayed in this magnificent landscape for 2 days and enjoyed the peace and the endless wide view. Apparently, we attract the camels or vice versa. On the morning of the 2nd day, a large herd of camels passed by - quenching their thirst at the nearby well until their bellies were almost bursting. Even though we have seen hundreds of camels now, we still have to sit down every time and admire these fascinating animals in their surroundings.

Afterwards, we took small paths to the next Fort Bou Jerrif. Also a beautiful 'newbuild' next to the protected old large fort. We had no trouble finding a spot for our tent on the camping area, once again we were the only guests. In the internet, we read that there are many poisonous snakes in the area - but we only saw snake skins.

It wasn't cooler during the day at the two forts, but at night the temperature dropped to 17 degrees and the Atlantic sent thick fog.

The next day, we wanted to tackle the 13 km long path via Fayja. But an earlier storm destroyed the path and construction work for a new road forced us to take detours that were not marked on any apps or maps. After more than 2 hours, we finally arrived at the sandy beach in Foum Assaka. With all the features that our Ford Ranger offers, we plowed through the beach and reached the bumpy path that led us to the paved road to Tiznit. On this paved road, we noticed these yellowish bottles on the barrels. At first, we thought someone here wanted to sell olive oil. But upon closer inspection, they were small gas stations.
