Today we had actually planned a helicopter flight to Fox Glacier with a glacier hike (3 hours). Unfortunately it rained early and the second tour of the day was also canceled. That's why we drove back to Queenstown at lunchtime. We spent some time at Lake Matheson before the trip. Despite the rain, I was able to take some good pictures.
The climate in the west of the South Island is rather tropical and humid, so the rain was actually great. The fauna looks more like a jungle. You can also find the Kea and Kaka here, but we didn't see any in the wild. Unfortunately it was too wet to continue hiking.
Tomorrow I'm going home. Overall, we were incredibly lucky with the weather. The fact that only one tour was unsuccessful is actually a really good result for such a long time and so many undertakings. If I had been traveling alone, I would probably have taken more time to photograph birds etc., but with family it was a bit difficult.
