Once again we drive early across the nearby border into Botswana. We are prepared for the Namibian border post and have already filled out the forms - but this time it takes a little longer at the Botswana border post, even though we dutifully drive our vehicle through the tire disinfectant solution and dutifully disinfect our shoes when we get out in front of the border post house. This time it is again the affidavit that is questioned. After some palaver, we are allowed to drive on as a pair.
We arrive at the jetty almost on time and can begin our boat tour through Chope National Park. From the boat, you can actually see the animal world in a completely different way and we are amazed by the many hippos and crocodiles - from small to huge - and we can watch a herd of elephants trotting to the Chobe, drinking there and then, surprisingly, crossing the Chobe together in a line to cross from Botswana to Namibia. When one of the young animals decides to turn back because the water is too deep for him, the mother gives him a huge scolding, energetic and goal-oriented, because then they all reach the other bank unharmed.
After the boat trip, we stroll through the street stalls, do some bargaining and then drive back to Namibia. At the border, everything goes surprisingly quickly. The Botswana border guard saw us at the market and we chatted briefly and were then processed pretty quickly.
We end the evening at the Chobe River Camp with a delicious buffet around the campfire.
