The route into Göttingen's old town was easy to manage, especially as it led through a street with many old villas and large gardens. The signposts led us to the GÄNSELIESEL-BRUNNEN. There was a small market set up there and I was immediately tempted by a 3-course meal: bread rolls, bratwurst and mustard. Again very tasty; we also attracted more customers. Good deed done for today.
The actual weekly market was a few meters away. This was also worth it. At the market you could buy almost only regional products: strawberries, asparagus, potatoes, vegetables of all kinds, cheese, oils from the Sollinger oil factory, smoked trout and eels from a local lake. The strawberries tasted particularly good straight from the stand, and we took the trout home with us, well packaged. It was also time for an espresso. At VIANI we not only got an excellent espresso, but also delicious cannoli.
Well fortified, we then explored many squares and small streets, asked in many shops about the gin from Duderstadt and only got negative answers. It seems as though I have to order the GLÜCKSFALL and the gin from Göttingen called VON HALLERS GIN (named after the founder of the botanical garden where the botanicals come from) online. What a pity, as we were just there. Then we went to Schoningen to visit a friend from our time together in Bremen. We hadn't met in person for a long time - so there was a lot to talk about. We drove with her to Fürstenhagen to enjoy a delicious and very filling dinner at the Gasthof ZUR LINDE, with a beer from here: BERGBRÄU from Uslar. Now the day is drawing to a close and we will spend a quiet night in Solling.
See you soon!
