As mentioned before, yesterday we went up Lion Hill, which is called that because it looks like a sleeping lion (as always, I can't recognize such formations...). Besides a beautiful wooden pavilion, there is a pleasant park and above all a wonderful view of Lijiang from above.
Today we visited more attractions such as the Mu Family House (where estate is certainly a better translation), the apparently famous water wheel of Lijiang, and the Black Dragon Pond Park. The Mu estate is impressive, it was built by a Naxi tribal prince (and unfortunately had to be extensively renovated after the earthquake in 1996). Naxi is a people from southwestern China who have been influenced by Chinese culture, but have long used their own language and script (pictograms). We often see older women in the city wearing traditional Naxi clothing.
Also worth a short detour was the market in Lijiang - how I wish I could take the delicious vegetables home! However, we stocked up for our hike tomorrow and the day after tomorrow (of course not with vegetables, but with bread and bananas).
