There I was, sitting on the side of a main street somewhere in Mumbai, with a delicious spicy paneer shawarma in my hand and the homemade fries in front of me. Behind me the normal madness is going on again, the usual tangle of rattling iron is trying to untangle itself, honking and screaming, or just to move forward, you can't say exactly, everyone seems to have a common goal, and that is to pass that one green phase in sight . And in such moments, my most important sentence for India always comes to mind: “Don’t be surprised, just be amazed!”
Three weeks of seeing India, a short trip behind me and I saw, heard, smelled and soaked up every minute. Here's a summary of what India actually means in a few bullet points.
India is loud, is quiet, has a lot of everything, colors, people, dirt, cars, rickshaws, buses, India stinks, India smells good, India is fascinating, India is annoying, is spiritual, often just crazy, India is beautiful, India tastes good, is rancid, is scary, is inspiring, is often enough to make you run away, is magical, disturbing, moving, attractive, sharp, insidious, motivating and definitely always enriching.
The last day arrived and I was walking along a street again. And of course I was no longer deterred by situations that made me think about things at home. Footpaths are simply not designed for pedestrians; On the one hand, via ferrata equipment would make sense for the steps. On the other hand, they are largely blocked, whether cars, moving mopeds, rubbish, building materials of all kinds, cows and dogs shoot and from the cows anyway.
A final rickshaw took me to the airport within 10 minutes, with the good-natured driver voluntarily turning on his taximeter. The price at the destination is 23 rupees, the equivalent of 25 cents, how gentle, the proof in the end it's all just a good game.
