Letting the soul dangle (Day 45 - 47 of the world tour)

Chop etilgan: 21.10.2019

19th - 21st October 2019

Well, what can we say? In the last three days, almost nothing has happened :p

Our daily routine looked like described in the last post:

Wake up

Breakfast

Errands (e.g. buying bananas, doing laundry...)

Lunch at the ABBA Restaurant

Youtube + brain training

Cookies

Bedtime :D :D :D

So it wasn't as bad as it might sound. Even though I had to get used to the fact that there is no "program", the three days actually went by quite quickly :)

I have now figured out what we did "wrong" with the hand washing and the new load worked a little better (especially since Jonas wanted to wring out the pieces and didn't immediately drip our entire veranda...) ;-) I now also understand the principle of soaking^^

We have successfully bought bananas, toast, and even more oatmeal with coconut milk (and a bar of Oreo chocolate but shhh :p ).

We ate Nepalese food again and probably won't go there again because the dishes were significantly spicier than the first time and I couldn't eat it that well and Jonas wasn't allowed to (poor guy^^).

We recharged our SIM card (for €2, now we have 28 days of internet with 1.5 GB/day) and it was completely uncomplicated: You go to the kiosk, say that you want to recharge your Vodafone and then a man is provided (we can't say if he always works there or if he was specially called for us^^), who appears after 30 minutes.

Our light bulb in the bathroom burst in the evening, so going to the bathroom at night is a special experience :D :D

We are now sharing our bungalow with a few animal roommates ;-)

For example, there are the two geckos (Gecko 1 and Gecko 2) who occasionally show up or whose little feet can be heard tapping on the wall in the dark.

There was the ant trail towards the shower, which unfortunately was washed away.

There are the small millipedes that always avoid each other when they accidentally encounter each other.

And then, yes, then there are our least favorite roommates, who have a rather short lifespan in these four walls: the mosquitoes...

We have had mosquitoes in our room for three nights now and it's annoying at night. Who doesn't know that buzzing sound in your ear when you want to sleep? ;-) They bite through the pajama pants and last night I covered myself so much with the blanket that a mosquito stung my eyelid. Thanks a lot -.-

Well, usually both Jonas and I wake up then, one turns on the flashlight and the other lies there quasi self-sacrificingly to attract the mosquito. As soon as it comes, its existence is terminated, hoping that it was the only/last one :D :D

Okay, that might sound more unhygienic than it was meant to be ;-) Our "zoo" is very manageable and we still find it amusing^^

The day before yesterday, after lunch, we wanted to go to the beach for a short while (we have to slowly try exposing ourselves to the climate again). Unfortunately, we were so full after eating and Jonas' nose was still blocked, so we didn't go.

Yesterday, we made a second attempt. We were there for maybe 15-20 minutes when it started drizzling and well, after a few minutes we went back again. You never know here what a drizzle can turn into, but what we do know is that a drizzle often doesn't take long to turn into an apocalypse of heavy rain and thunder :D

Today was the third attempt (all good things come in threes after all!). Unfortunately, it was raining lightly again and it wasn't that inviting otherwise. Besides, the sea is (too) wild today...

We were briefly at Black Beach just now. When we reach the promenade, we can either turn left (which we mostly do and where we have been to the beach so far) or right. So today we tried the right side and ended up at Black Beach. Since swimming is prohibited today, it was also quite empty (and it was already 4 pm or so).

But the beach itself is actually quite beautiful :) Shortly after we settled there (we actually wanted to continue walking but a real lifeguard in yellow-red "uniform" whistled at us and we turned back...), two couples arrived, each with a man carrying a surfboard.

While she was getting ready to surf, the lifeguard whistled at them. The two went to the lifeguard, shook his hand, talked briefly, and then, yes, then they were allowed to go where Jonas and I were not allowed to walk :O And then they were even allowed to surf there. Tzz! :D

We didn't question that any further, but stayed at our spot and simply watched the surfers from a distance, to which two more joined :) The waves looked difficult to surf for us as beginners, but occasionally the four of them managed to ride the wave for a short while. Not bad!

Since Jonas is doing quite well except for the cold, we will finally have our surf lesson tomorrow! <3 We will be picked up at our hostel at 7:30 am (in the morning! :p ) and if we interpret the pictures that the surf instructor sent via WhatsApp correctly, the lesson will take place at Black Beach. We are curious to see what the waves will look like and if we as complete beginners can try something there :D

We are looking forward to it! :)
